We are looking for Network Engineers at various levels: mid-career, senior, technical expert, and leadership roles!
Bring your IT career and technical expertise to help support the California Research and Education Network (CalREN), a high-bandwidth, fiber-optic network that serves over 20 million users. CENIC is a nonprofit governed by its member K-12 schools, libraries, community colleges, universities, and other public-serving institutions. Its mission is to advance education and research by providing a world-class network essential for innovation, collaboration, and economic growth.

CENIC has positions open within our Operations and Network Services teams. Please review all of our open positions and apply to the one that best fits your skill sets and career goals. There is no need to apply to more than one position. All applications will be reviewed, and if we feel you may be a better fit for a different position, we will discuss it internally and with you, the candidate.

Operations Team

The operations team's primary role is to monitor the network and notify our members whenever any incidents affect the network or their services. Engineers are also expected to work with our members to troubleshoot routing and network performance issues and work with our hardware providers on break-fixes. In addition, the team performs both non-impacting and impacting maintenance involving the deployment of new hardware, upgrading software on devices, and migrating services.
