The UC Irvine division of Calit2 featured prominently in the 2011 Annual Conference and enjoyed a debut of some of the most stunning digital-media-based technology: the live streaming of extremely high-quality 4k digital video and uncompressed audio.

That this debut went off flawlessly is a tribute to Calit2 and to the director of the UC Irvine division, G. P. Li. Li is a professor of electrical engineering and computer science; biomedical engineering; and chemical engineering and materials science at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UCI. He is also director of the Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility and leads the LifeChips graduate program, focused on micro- and nanotechnology in the life sciences.
