Rural Issue Task Force

The goal of this task force is to advocate inclusion of California.s rural regions in a ubiquitous gigabit statewide network.

The products of this task force will be:

• Identify rural regions that lack adequate infrastructure to participate in statewide gigabit network.
• Identify reasons for lack of infrastructure in those areas.
• Brainstorm action plans and communicate with other task forces on possible solutions.
• Identify best practices.
• Identify non-educational regional interests who may want to share in infrastructure.
• Identify key policy issues that need to be addressed to ensure the availability of gigabit to rural regions.
• Provide advocacy support to rural regions.
• Enable rural communities to leapfrog existing urban infrastructures.
