Museum Education Task Force

The formation of this task force is the result of an ongoing dialogue which includes:

  • October 5, 1997, UCLA program entitled "Forum on Applications of Space-Age Technology to Archaeology," attended by representatives from the Getty, JPL and UCLA
  • October 25, 2001, UCLA meeting entitled "Third Forum on Arts and Science Education: Applications of Broadband Networks to Museum Education"

The goal of this task force is to determine how to connect museums in California to K-12 schools in California.

The products of this task force will be:

  • Determination of how CENIC can connect California museums to K-12 schools through CalREN at a bandwidth in the range of 100 MB per second and 1 Gigabit per second
  • Exploring funding for connecting Los Angeles area museums to the CalREN network
  • Investigating expanded opportunities for collaboration in connecting museums to K-12 schools
