This position entails primarily development and negotiation of contracts and agreements, review of vendor contracts, research and analysis of
federal legislation, drafting of policy and procedure documents, and maintenance of corporate records. Specific tasks include:
- Draft, review and revise agreements with CENIC associate institutions;
- Develop and maintain log of agreements with summary of terms, termination dates, etc.;
- Identify schedule on which existing agreements need to be extended or renegotiated;
- Assure that CENIC service agreements do not extend past terms of provider/supplier agreements and/or that terms and pricing are consistent;
- Review vendor and supplier contracts for reasonableness of terms and advise President of terms that should be negotiated;
- Serve as first-level contact for negotiating contracts;
- Draft, update, and maintain CENIC policy documents for consistency with laws and needs;
- Track federal and State legislation in areas relevant to CENIC, including telecommunications law, security, privacy, and law enforcement;
- Conduct research on areas of interest to CENIC; and
- Maintain corporate records.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities in the preferred candidate include:
- Must have law degree or significant work experience in business contracts and /or policy. Experience working in a law firm desirable.
- Must have excellent writing skills.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative but also function well in a team environment.
- Must be able to synthesize and summarize information into concise statements and documents.
